A few of the questions we hear most often from families deciding whether we are the right fit, answered here to help you get a clearer sense of who we are before we ever sit down together
Not necessarily. While we primarily work with individuals, couples, and families who are building significant wealth or approaching retirement, we believe the quality of a financial plan shouldn't be determined solely by the size of your investment account. If you're facing important financial decisions and want a trusted partner to help you make them, we'd be happy to have a conversation and determine whether we're a good fit.
One-Time Plans: $3,500-$7,500 based upon complexity
Both. We believe investment management is most effective when it's connected to a comprehensive financial plan. Rather than managing your portfolio in isolation, we look at the bigger picture—including cash flow, taxes, retirement, insurance, estate planning, and other financial goals—and build an investment strategy around your plan.
Absolutely. Retirement is about much more than simply reaching a certain account balance. We help clients determine when they can realistically retire, how much they can spend, which accounts to draw from first, how to manage taxes, when to claim Social Security, and how to turn their accumulated wealth into sustainable income. The goal is to help you enter retirement with a plan—not just a portfolio.
Yes. Business owners often have financial decisions that don't fit neatly into a traditional financial plan. We help coordinate personal and business finances, retirement-plan options, cash flow, investments, tax considerations, and long-term wealth planning.
We don't prepare tax returns, but tax planning is an important part of the work we do. We help clients think through strategies such as Roth conversions, capital gains, charitable giving, retirement-account withdrawals, and the timing of income. When appropriate, we also work alongside your CPA or tax professional to make sure your financial and tax strategies are working together.
Yes. Federal employees have a unique set of benefits and retirement decisions, and we help clients navigate everything from TSP and FERS to FEGLI, Social Security, pensions, and Medicare. Whether you're early in your career or approaching retirement, we can help you understand how your benefits fit into your broader financial plan.
Yes. Divorce can create significant financial decisions at a time when there is already a lot to navigate. We can help you understand the financial implications of dividing assets, retirement accounts, investments, and other property, as well as how your new cash flow and tax situation may change. We work alongside your attorney and other professionals to help you make sound financial decisions throughout the process.
Yes. While Stone Chase Financial is based in Northern Virginia, we work with clients in multiple states. Much of financial planning can be done virtually, allowing us to maintain a personal relationship regardless of where you live.
HENRY stands for “High Earner, Not Rich Yet.” It describes someone who earns a high income but may not yet feel financially wealthy because much of their wealth is tied up in employer retirement plans, equity compensation, or other long-term investments.
We work with HENRYs who are in the early and middle stages of building wealth and want to be intentional about where they're headed. That might mean making the most of equity compensation, coordinating employer benefits, managing taxes, investing outside of retirement accounts, or simply creating a plan for turning a high income into lasting wealth.
We believe financial planning is a long-term partnership. We have the patience and longevity to grow alongside you—and we invest in that relationship just as much as we invest your assets.
It starts with a conversation—not a sales pitch. We'll get to know you, your goals, your current financial picture, and the questions you're trying to answer. If we're a good fit, we'll develop a comprehensive plan and investment strategy, then continue to meet regularly to keep your plan aligned as your life changes.
Our goal isn't simply to manage your money—it's to help you make confident decisions about what comes next.
